New Smithfield Market is the leading wholesale fruit, vegetable, poultry and fish market servicing the North Westarea and covers an area of approximately 35 acres.

The Market is situated off Ashton Old Road, Openshaw in Manchester and trades as a wholesale market fromMonday to Saturday and as a retail market and car boot sale every Sunday.

Manchester City Council (MCC) is seeking to invite tenders for the provision of Cleaning, Waste Segregation,Transport and Processing on New Smithfield Market.

The contract is divided into 2 Lots:

Lot 1 — Cleaning on New Smithfield Market.

Lot 2 — Waste Segregation, Transport and Processing on New Smithfield Market.

Tenders can be submitted for 1 or both Lots.

The contract will be awarded to 1 company per Lot.

The Contract period will be for 2 years with the option to extend for up to an additional 2 years.

Lot 1 — Cleaning on New Smithfield Market

The service required is;

Cleaning of all roadways, grassed and shrubbed areas, selling hallways, parking areas and other designated areas contained within the site and the peripheral area.

Machine washing of roadways in the main selling hallways and footpaths, internal wholesale units (as requested) and internal fish market areas.

Cleaning of toilet areas, together with replenishment of toilet requisites. Washroom services including the provision of, and replacement and fixing of, toilet roll holders, toilet seats, soap and towel dispensers to all toilet areas. Maintenance of grass, tree, hedge and shrub areas within the site perimeter

The Council reserves the right not to award a contract as a result of the procurement process initiated by thisnotice and will not be liable for any costs incurred by candidates.
