The Scottish Ministers, acting through Social Security Scotland, has released the Prior Information Notice as a Request for Information (RFI) to potential suppliers of Transcription Software and Services.
The publication of this Prior information Notice/Request for Information will be used to undertake preliminary market consultation and to inform the market of the Scottish Minister’s intention to procure transcription software and services.
By engaging with you (as well as others in the market place) this will ensure you have an opportunity to help the Scottish Ministers understand the market and to shape any future procurement exercise.

Social Security Scotland employs Health & Social Care Practitioners, (nurses, physiotherapists, social workers) to advise Case Managers on eligibility for disability benefits. This advice is accompanied with a typed report stored in a client electronic information system. Reports include details of a clients home circumstances, medical conditions and disability. This data is linked to person identifiable data and protected characteristics such as gender and race.
To save Practitioner time, without significantly increasing the overall processing time for an application, speech to text transcription software and services are being considered to support typing these reports.
The publication of this Prior information Notice/Request for Information will be used to undertake preliminary market consultation and to inform the market of the Scottish Minister’s intention to procure transcription software and services.
This exercise is being carried out in advance of any future procurement exercise. It is not a pre-qualification or tendering exercise.
