The forthcoming contract will be for the provisions of a range of stock orthotic consumables to all NHS Wales. The Contract will be divided into Lots. This notice is intended to provide the market with information regarding the sustainability and decarbonisation elements of the upcoming tender due to be published mid-June 2023.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

It is NWSSP’s intention to include a 10% weighting for sustainability and decarbonisation in the upcoming Orthotic Products tender as details below.

WPPN 06/21 will apply to this tender. Bidders will be evaluated using guidance on adopting PPN 06/21: Selection criteria. Further information can be found on the gov.uk website:

The sustainability questions will focus on product design, product materials and product packaging including bidders’ current position and future commitments. Bidders will be required to provide supporting evidence of any statements and/or commitments made.

Questions regarding the product reusability will be included to understand the design in order to minimise waste, enhance recyclability, and promote reusability / repairability.

Additionally, questions regarding product composition and packaging materials will also be included to determine recycled and sustainable content and recyclability.
