two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Based in Wendover, John Colet School want students to progress both academically and in terms of their character. They can achieve the first of these goals with the support of Staff, by having a positive attitude to learning in the classroom and showing determination and effort to succeed in everything they undertake.

A Student's character is formed first and foremost at home under the guidance and example of parents and carers. In School a wide range of extracurricular opportunities in which students are able to participate and lead will ensure that the young people in the School’s care leave as well-developed individuals of good character who are confident and capable to make a contribution to society.

John Colet School are seeking Catering service providers to tender for the provision of all catering services presently offered within the School, which currently includes breakfast, morning break, lunch and all hospitality and free issue requirements.

The contract will be for three years in duration, with the option to extend for a further one period of up to two years and with a commencement date of 1st January 2024.

TUPE regulations apply to this contract, which involves the transfer of existing catering staff, of which some may be members of the Local Government Pension Scheme, requiring arrangements to be made for 'Admitted Body' status with the relevant pension fund.

The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.

The contracting authority reserves the right not to award any or part of the contract which is the subject of this contract notice and reserves the right to terminate the procurement process at any time.

The contracting authority will not be liable for any costs incurred by those expressing an interest in tendering for this contract opportunity.

The contracting authority will consider variant bids, evaluating them (so far as the variant or the evaluation of the variant is in the opinion of the contracting authority practicable) on the same basis as a conforming bid, but shall not be obliged to accept any such bid in preference to a conforming bid even if the variant bid scores more highly. No variant will be considered unless the bidder simultaneously submits a conforming bid.
