This advert describes the requirements Bridgend County Borough Council (the Council) has for a housing related support service based at Brynmenyn House, Abergarw Road, Brynmenyn, CF32 9LF. Brynmenyn House is project owned by the Council and provides 16 units of accommodation to households who are homeless and temporarily accommodated by the Council’s Housing Solutions team.
Traditionally the project has accommodated families, young persons aged 16-18 and vulnerable adults who are experiencing homelessness. In order to support the Council’s response to the Covid 19 pandemic the project has increasingly accommodated single person households. Currently the project is exclusively utilised for single persons or couples.
A commissioned support Provider staffs the project on a twenty-four hour basis, seven days per week, with waking night staff. The current support Provider has been awarded additional funding, to increase the staff resource at the project, in order to meet the needs of the current purpose.
The support service is required to assist accommodated households with any housing related issues. The support provided is ‘needs-led’ and aimed to improve the capacity of the Service Users to move on to living independently within the community.
Provision will assist the Council in fulfilling its duties under The Housing (Wales) Act 2014, Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.
The contract period is for 2 years, commencing on 1st November 2021 with the option to extend for up to 10 months.
The service will assist with the vision of the Housing Support Grant that promotes “A Wales where nobody is homeless and everyone has a safe home where they can flourish and live a fulfilled, active and independent life”.
