two.2.4) Description of the procurement

CalMac Ferries Ltd would like to award a framework to a single supplier for EPIC of a replacement ramp on vessels .

In addition, EPIC may (dependent upon funding) optionally be required for 3 of the above remaining vessels.

The ramps which are to be engineered, procured, installed and commissioned shall meet classification society and Flag State requirements. Where possible the ramps shall be able to be interfaced with existing vessel hardware and systems. Design approval from Classification Society and Flag State for the installation is to be gained as part of the deliverables.

The ramp systems shall take into account the following;

- The vessels operate on slip ways in a variety of ports on the West Coast of Scotland and Western Isles. The slipways in the ports are mostly protected by small harbours / piers and alignment structures.

- The concrete slipways at the ports are at a gradient of 1:8

- The existing ramps act as an anchor on the slipway. To achieve this, the vessels propulsion system is kept running to keep the vessel centred on the slipway.

- The existing ramps weigh approximately 8000kg each
