University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to procure a single contractor for the relocation works of their Macmillan Unit run by Macmillan Caring locally a local charity working with the NHS to provide end of life care ( hospice), this project will be funded and procured by the University Hospitals Dorset and the Macmillan Caring Locally charity.
The current facility was built in 1974 and now requires replacement as the building is now outdated regarding backlog maintenance and space utilisation. The current facility provides specialist palliative care to its patients, within Christchurch and surrounding areas.
The new facility will be located at the Christchurch hospital site. The building will be stand-alone and is mainly single storey, with some two storey areas. The ground floor contains a total 20 beds consisting of two 4 bed bays and 12 single rooms with ward accommodation, day patient accommodation with consulting space treatment areas and waiting/ Café space. The first floor will be general office space with accommodation for the community teams, Macmillan charity and staff welfare facilities. The building will be surrounded by gardens on 2 sides and a central courtyard, a goods service yard and facilities access. To the front will be access road and carparking for approx. 16 cars and ambulance drop off.

The building will be located on the current Carpark A site
The facility will include Inpatient, outpatient and Day care as well as Community care, therapy services, Macmillan Caring Locally offices, office accommodation to operate the service, public café area, and landscaping along with new front entrance road and goods yard.
The project is shortly to go for Full planning approval with a view to tendering at the same time, to date the planning response has been positive. The intention is to commence the procurement programme in July with onsite early 2023. The programme is an 18month build followed by a client commissioning period.
The proposed contract will be NEC 4 Option C
This Prior information Notice is to seek expressions of interest for this opportunity. Deadline for expressions of interest is 20th June 2022 at 2pm.
