The proposed works are summarised as follows:-

• Conservation of Grade 1 listed building and a Scheduled Monument, parts of which are at risk of serious deterioration.

• Creation of a new cultural venue and visitor attraction which includes, new welcoming visitor entrance and lift installation, opening the Stone Hall to the public to provide interpretation and communicate and engage the public with the history of the building and Dover.

• Revealing and recreating the significant Burges decorative scheme.

• Creation of new high quality self-catering accommodation and storage over three floors in the Mayor’s Parlour suite.

• Providing new WC's, cloakrooms, kitchen (with new lift provision) and other back of house facilities to improve the way that the building functions for visitors.
