The service is required to cover the requirements of Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). The headcount as of April 2021 is 1236 employees plus approximately 3500 volunteers. Please note the Occupational Health service must be available to all employees, including some staff based overseas, as well as volunteer Coastguard Rescue Officers, who are based and operate around the UK and are responsible for attending 999 emergency call outs.

Core Requirements:

• Review existing health standards and tests to ensure they are current best practise and fit for purpose.

• Telephone Support Services;

• Online Portal;

• Referrals from Contracting Authorities;

• Attendance Management Advice and Assessments;

• Attendance Management Reports;

• Case Conferences;

• Ill Health Retirement;

• Pre-Appointment & Pre-Enrolment Checks; and

• Surveillance Services including Health Surveillance monitoring and planning

• Fitness for Task and Safety Critical Work Services:

o Hearing Tests; and

o Baseline Hearing Tests

• Health Screening Services.

• Alcohol and Drug testing

• Workplace Assessments and Adjustments which shall include:

o Assessments Relating to Reasonable Adjustments for Hearing and Sight Loss;

o Dyslexia Assessments;

o Specialist Support Services;

o Support Worker Services;

o Occupational Therapy Assessment; and

o Display Screen Equipment Assessments.

Service availability

The Supplier shall ensure that all Services, including the necessary Supplier Personnel, be available as a minimum, fifty-two (52) weeks a year, Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 hours to 18:00 hours, excluding Public and Bank Holidays.

The Supplier shall note that standard service hours vary across Contracting Authorities and availability will be required during evenings, weekends and Bank and Public Holidays, in particular, for volunteer Coastguard Rescue Officers who require health surveillances to be completed outside of normal working hours.
