seven.2.1) Description of the modifications
Nature and extent of the modifications (with indication of possible earlier changes to the contract):
The existing contract related to the operation of the White Oak Leisure Centre, Swanley for a period of 15 years.
The modification introduces the temporary operation of the Sevenoaks Leisure Centre, Lullingstone Park Golf Course and Edenbridge Leisure Centre for a period of two years.
The modification will expire on 01/05/2025 and revert to the original services for the original contract period only.
seven.2.2) Reasons for modification
Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee.
Description of the circumstances which rendered the modification necessary and explanation of the unforeseen nature of these circumstances:
Following the sudden financial difficulties faced by the existing operator of Sevenoaks District Council's leisure facilities at Sevenoaks Leisure Centre, Lullingstone Park Golf Course and Edenbridge Leisure Centre (Sevenoaks Leisure Limited), rendering them unable to continue their operation, the Council required an operator urgently to step-in as a temporary operator to protect the assets and to reopen these important facilities to the public.
This is a temporary procurement (of two years) while longer term solutions are identified.
