This contract is for a dedicated bus service for students attending Hummersknott Academy, which takes students from its immediate catchment areas both within the town and specifically the western edge of town and associated approaches. The routes will transport students in receipt of statutory travel and those fee-paying non statutory students.

Route 1 Redworth to Heighington to West Park to Hummersknott Academy – 50-seater coach

Route 2 Skerne Park to Hummersknott Academy – 70-seater coach

Route 3 School Aycliffe, Western approaches to Hummersknott Academy – 70-seater coach

All buses need to arrive at the school no later than 8.20am and will be expected to leave Trust by 3.30pm. The buses run during term time only (190 days).

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

This contract is for a dedicated bus service for students attending Hummersknott Academy, which takes students from its immediate catchment areas both within the town and specifically the western edge of town and associated approaches. The routes will transport students in receipt of statutory travel and those fee-paying non statutory students.

As demand for places at school alters year on year the academy would like to be able to expand its bus routes if necessary or offer different routes to support children to attend the academy, this could include changing the size of a bus on a particular route or adding another service.

Due to this potential extra requirement this tender will be split into two lots.

Lot 1 will be for the current requirements of the Academy Trust detailed below.

Due to this potential extra requirement this tender will be split into two lots.

Lot 2 will be a call off lot that will provide the academy with the flexibility to add additional resource to current routes or the introduction of new routes depending on demand. We require bidders to submit a response that details the cost to introduce these extra services, per day and per vehicle to match existing fleet capabilities e.g. 30-seater coach, 50-seater coach, 70-seater coach.
