Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is seeking a single supplier to operate the visitor and events catering service at the Botanic in Edinburgh within existing visitor catering facilities at the John Hope Gateway, Terrace Café and external/takeaway operation at East Gate; in addition to event venues at Caledonian Hall, John Hope Gateway and locations elsewhere in the Garden. The Caterer will be encouraged to maximise catering opportunities, using existing space to its potential and extending opportunities where possible, considering other areas by agreement with RBGE. RBGE wishes to develop a sustainable, creative and innovative partnership for catering, to best meet the needs of the existing customer base, attract new markets and maximise the overall commercial opportunity.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

RBGE is seeking a single supplier to operate the visitor and events catering service at the Edinburgh Garden within existing visitor catering facilities at the John Hope Gateway, Terrace Café and external/takeaway operation at East Gate; in addition to event venues at Caledonian Hall, John Hope Gateway and locations elsewhere in the Garden catering contract is managed RBGE behalf by trading subsiduary The Botanics Trading Company (BTC) (SC136616). The Caterer will be encouraged to maximise catering opportunities, using existing space to its potential and extending opportunities where possible, considering other areas by agreement with RBGE. RBGE wishes to develop a sustainable, creative and innovative partnership for catering, to best meet the needs of the existing customer base, attract new markets and maximise the overall commercial opportunity sales team within the BTC manages sales.

This tender is being conducted as a two-stage concession tender, with those successful in passing the SPD at 60% or more invited to take part in a later Invitation to Tender stage.

The SPD focus is on the Tenderer’s characteristics and suitability in principle to provide the requirements, rather than how they will provide the specific requirements of this contract, which will be covered in the later ITT stage.

The contract is expected to commence on 1 April 2024 and is anticipated to run for a period of five years (5), with provision to extend for a further two (2) years. Up to a total of seven years (7) duration.

This procurement excludes the staff restaurant and soft FM provision for the Garden.
