Justifications for contract modification
- Unforeseeable circumstances
- Additional goods, services or works
Reason that these justifications apply
The GMH project strengthens and accelerates the same South African food loss and waste strategy for which Nicola was originally procured; varying the existing contract ensures continuity, value for money and effective project risk management while enabling coherent delivery across the SA FLWI's growing portfolio.
The GMH activity is fully aligned with the existing scope and intent of the current Impact Lead contract.
The new GMH project:
Focuses on preventing and reducing food waste
Requires business engagement and buy-in
Is delivered through the same South African ood Loss and Waste Initiative
Uses the same local delivery partner, CGCSA
Requires strategic oversight, coordination, and impact assurance
This is not additional unrelated work; it is a new funding stream for the same strategic mission. The Impact Lead's function naturally extends to it.
Nicola already has deep knowledge of:
The South African food system
Food loss and waste drivers
The Food Pact structure
The local partner's capacity and constraints
Established trust with:
The local delivery partner
Food Pact stakeholders
International partners
Replacing or duplicating this role would increase cost, delay mobilisation & increase delivery risk.
The GMH proposal itself already recognises the Impact Lead role in the cost outline so we are not creating a new position, just assigning it to the existing contracted specialist.
