Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent CCGs are aiming to procure a wheelchair service to provide high quality assessments and provision of wheelchair equipment, postural management, pressure relief cushioning to children and adults and a maintenance service within the areas covered by the six clinical commissioning groups of Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent.
The service will provide assessments, maintenance and repairs as required and associated education delivered at home, within clinical settings or within venues agreed by the service users.
The key objectives of this service are:
• High patient, carer and referrer satisfaction
• The patient will be provided with the necessary and appropriate equipment to meet their clinical needs, in line with the service specification
• Referral to assessment (urgent) - 2 weeks
• Receipt of referral to assessment (standard) - 6 weeks
• Deliver the service within the 18 week referral to treatment standard pathway
• Prevent hospital admission and facilitate early discharge
• Maximise or maintain function, independence and quality of life of all patients
• All assessed provision is recorded and accessible for audit as required
• Provision of patient/carer education
• Maintenance and repair service
Contract length: The contract will be for 3 years with the option to extend by up to a further 24 months.

Contract length: The contract will be for 3 years with the option to extend by up to a further 24 months.
The CCGs have set a financial envelope for a maximum block annual contract value of £2,455,000 per annum. Submitted bids should therefore reflect annual values of up to £2,455,000. The CCGs reserve the right to reject any bids reflecting annual costs over and above this maximum financial threshold.
