The University wishes to procure a modern, interfaced, flexible cloud hosted Current Research Information Software(CRIS) The University is seeking to implement a CRIS that will interface with its main corporate business systems in order to achieve maximum benefits in relation to interfaces /integration and process improvement, It seeks to find a solution that will not only comply with external agendas, manage research capacity and performance data and manage external funding and research ethics workflows, but also enable the user to build detailed, high level reports.

A CRIS is required to ensure that the University is able to identify, record, measure and report (internally and externally where appropriate) research capacity and performance in terms of:

PGR student supervisory capacity and students supervised

Academic external engagement and esteem

Research publications and other outputs

Research projects and income (applied for and obtained)

Research impact

Other measures of esteem and engagement

A CRIS will:

Interface with internal and external systems specified in Section 4.1 of Appendix 1 – Technical Specification

Provide a workflow for costing, pricing, monitoring, reporting and internal authorisation of bids for research and related grants and contracts

Provide a workflow for central and distributed research ethics review and approval processes

Allow access to authoritative research related information that can be accessed via a reporting function within the system

Enable the university to make significant improvements to the current administrative processes

Enable at least 250 individual academic and professional services staff users and up to 2,000 students to access and use relevant elements of the system

To define and implement an interfaced Current Research Information System [CRIS] accessible through the network to all Wrexham Glyndwr University sites. In addition, it should be accessible to remote users (e.g. from home) via the University’s staff portal.

To ensure that there are seamless and effective links between the CRIS and other corporate information systems including HR, Finance, WAM, SITS, Timetabling, with the University’s external Research Repository, and with the University’s web site.

Training on the system and on installation of vendor packages to enable day to day operation of the system by the University

Software licencing including ongoing annual support & maintenance for the system for up to 5 years

The Targeted contract dates will commence from 1st August 2021 for the implementation and “Go Live” from a software licencing perspective will commence once final acceptance testing has been signed off during University’s 2021/22 Financial Year. (between 1st August 2021 and 31st July 2022). Actual dates to be agreed with the university.
