With co-funding from the European Regional Development Fund, the University of Sheffield has established a flagship Translational Energy Research Centre (TERC) - a national multi-technology, integrated platform for research, development and innovation at pilot-scale, to understand and demonstrate green energy solutions for a sustainable, affordable and secure energy system. It is one of the largest and best-equipped research and development facilities in Europe for zero-carbon energy, hydrogen, bioenergy, combustion and carbon capture with storage/utilisation.

TERC is looking to further expand its current capabilities and equipment portfolio in this area. We are therefore looking to procure two lots:

LOT 1: Retrofitting a hydrogen-fired combustor for conversion of a gas turbine

LOT 2: Fuel handling and mixing skid, with feeding system

Lot 1: Retrofitting a hydrogen-fired combustor for conversion of a gas turbine

• design and build of the hydrogen-fired burner

• retro-fitting of the combustor and integration into the existing AE-T100 mGT

• incorporation of temperature monitoring

• modifications to the fuel system

• modifications to the software and control system for the new burner and fuel block

• any changes to the compressor and turbine maps, as necessary

• modifications to the fuel control system (to accommodate Lot 2) - including the fuel compressor and skid controls/monitoring

• design and build of the gas mixing skid, including fuel handling and delivery system

• full mechanical and electrical installation, including:

rerouting the natural gas from the AE-T100 fuel compressor to the skid

hydrogen connection with the site supply

connect the skid outlet to the AE-T100 fuel system

connect the skid controls/PLC to the AE-T100 system

connect the power from the AE-T100 or the site DB
