Description

BT's Public Service Telephone Network (PTSN) is being switched off (this is a global network change). The old copper lines are no longer available to buy as they are no longer sustainable and the equipment (switches etc) which supports the older infrastrucure is no longer available for repairs or replacements. The switch off deadline for businesses is 31/12/2025. However, BT need to know which lines need to be migrated over to Pre Digital Phone Lines (PDPL) where current operating systems etc do not currently work with a fibre line, by the 31 March 2025 and want to start to move lines that can be migrated now.

This contract will be to ensure continuity for RBG's connections to fibre and PDPL lines, this includes telephone and Broadband connections in use across the whole of the RBG estate (including and not limited to; major & satelite sites, sheltered housing, Greenwich Living Options (GLO) units, lift emergency lines, boiler rooms, parking meters etc).

Single supplier - technical reasons

If we do not proceed with the contract and the migration of lines, when the lines are switched off there will be no fallback solution for RBG and this will have a major impact on services and residents.
