Services relate to large scale transactional bulk printing, mail sorting, and presentation for postal distribution of DWP customer letters, together with collation and insertion into the envelopes of associated leaflets or other printed information to DWP to customers and the generation of internal reports. These include: - The extraction and manipulation of customer specific data, generated from front line operational processing systems;

- Printing of software generated documents specifically in line with operational business rules i.e inserts, reply envelopes;

- Mail sorting of sealed envelopes and despatch preparation ready for collection by one or more carriers (postal channels are out of scope of this contractual arrangement and covered under the Mail and Office Services contract).

seven.2.1) Description of the modifications

The contract has been extended for a further year up to 21 April 2022

Contract term increased from 72 to 84 months, by exercising extension rights from the original contract (resulting in 7-year term with no further option to extend)

Need for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor/concessionaire.

Description of the economic or technical reasons and the inconvenience or duplication of cost preventing a change of contractor:

The modification to extend the contract has been made to sustain business continuity and allow sufficient time to plan, research, prepare and issue a new tender to the market. The extension term is allowable and was contained in the tender documents and contract notice. This is in line with the Public Contract Regulations 2015 (regulation 72) and OJEU Regulations.
