The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) works to protect the public and reduce reoffending and has responsibility for various parts of the justice system, including the courts, prisons, probation services and attendance centres. MoJ works in partnership with other government departments and agencies to reform the criminal justice system, to serve the public and support the victims of crime.
In support of MoJ, His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) employs Probation Support Officers (PSO) that play a crucial role in the criminal justice system, primarily responsible for supervising offenders who are serving community or custodial sentences.
HMMPS are looking for training providers to develop aspects of the syllabus , as HMPPS will develop several learning outcomes. The training providers will also be required to deliver the Probation Practitioner Level 3 apprenticeship. This is a new requirement and replaces the Level three Diploma in Probation Practice.
The apprenticeship will be part delivered by His Majesty’s Probation and Prison Service (HMPPS) and part delivered by apprenticeship providers. Each learner will complete the course over an 18-month period, followed by an End Point Assessment (EPA) which could take up to 6 months.
The contract duration will be 6 years, learners will be enrolled over the first 4 years. Then the final 2 years will enable those learners to complete the course.
The funding band set by IFATE (Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education) is a maximum £5,000 per learner. Current forecasts project 3,990 learners will require the training over the course of the contract. The overall estimated value is £19,998,000.
The tender will be split into two lots
Lot 1 covers the following regions:
North East, East & West Midlands, North West, Yorkshire & the Humber, Greater Manchester
Lot 2 covers the following regions:
South West, South Central, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, East of England, London & Wales
