Swindon Borough Council invites tenders from suitably qualified and experienced service providers for the provision of Advocacy across Swindon.

Project Description

To provide advocacy services. 'Advocacy is taking action to help people say what they want, secure their rights, represent their interests and obtain services they need. Advocates and advocacy schemes work in partnership with people they support and take their side. Advocacy promotes social inclusion, equality and social justice.' (The Advocacy Charter, Action for Advocacy 2002). Local authorities have a duty to ensure the availability of Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) and Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) to meet the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act, 2005 and the Mental Health Act, 1983 respectively.

The initial contract term will be for 12 months with an option to extend for a further 12 months for a potential total contract term of 24 months as stated in the ITT documents. Estimated contract value for 12 months is £457,000 and for 24 months is £914,000.
