Post Office Limited (POL) has a requirement to count and strap bank notes for Bank of England and Scottish banks, across 3 UK centres as part of our obligations as a member of the NCS.

POL has an estate of 12 existing Automatic strapping Machines in its cash centres that require ongoing maintenance and servicing in line with OEM recommendations.

POL require the option to replace failed equipment with new ASM?s and/or seek to increase the number of machines held in the estate.

POL may also require the provision for short term equipment hire

Preliminary Market Consultations

There are three main players in the market that could fulfil our requirements, Siat Spa (the incumbent), Kite Packaging and Southgate Packaging (who provide the service to RM)

Procurement believe that this is a representative cohort of suppliers who will wish to bid for this opportunity .

Approach

The estimated total contract value exclusive of VAT is under the current threshold.

Procurement will seek at least three quotes from the market to ensure fair competition

In considering the procurement we have decided to include the consumable element in the tender along with the maintenance element. This procurement will be for 2 lots:

1. Maintenance of the existing/New Strapping Machines, including parts and new equipment supply as required.

2. Supply of strapping machine consumables for existing and any new equipment.
