two.1.4) Short description
This procurement is being conducted by Nottinghamshire County Council on behalf of the Second Midlands EV Infrastructure Consortium (SMeviC). It is delivering a 50kW Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) on-street project, in which capital grant funding has been secured from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).
The SMeviC is a joint project between Midlands Connect (Sub-National Regional Transport Authority), Nottinghamshire County Council (the Commissioning Body), Derby City Council, Derbyshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and Staffordshire County Council (the Commissioning Bodies). The contract will aim to provide local residential charging infrastructure, through the expansion of the number of Electric Vehicle chargepoint sockets (EVCPS) in areas with dependence on on-street parking.
The Aims of the contract is to
• Assist in meeting government objectives on accelerating the provision of Electric Vehicle Chargepoints (EVCPs) to support green transport solutions, and to contribute to the regional goal of 65,000 chargepoints in the Midlands by 2030.
• Equitably install and maintain standard and rapid chargepoints across a broad range of areas within the SMeviC region, with aims to deliver an accelerated growth of chargepoint sockets across five local authorities to meet demand up to the year 2030.
• Deliver a step-change in the deployment of primarily local, low-power on-street charging infrastructure.
• Accelerate the commercialisation, and investment in, the local charging infrastructure sector by bringing rural and urban authorities together, to ensure an equitable and connected journey across the region.
