The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has a requirement for an API that can be used to help importers to find a Harmonised System (HS) code and right tariff for their products. This HS code enables them to describe their products and find the right tariff.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has a requirement for an API that can be used to help importers to find a Harmonised System (HS) code and right tariff for their products. This HS code enables them to describe their products and find the right tariff.

The supplier will provide critical expertise to bridge the gap between the technical digital teams and Finance, manage engagement, and oversee the rollout. Key tasks include facilitating user acceptance testing, managing risks, developing training, and ensuring smooth integration with other corporate functions. This work is essential to improving operational efficiency, and reducing reliance on manual processes.

the supplier will also provide access to query APIs and web-based applications as transactions, to return an HS-6, HS8, and HS10 code from the submission of a narrative product description for international markets (e.g., capability to convert free text search information into specific Harmonised System (HS) codes).

The contract shall be for an initial period of 12 months, with the contractual option to extend by up to a further twelve (12) months. The requirement has an estimated value of £100,000 (excluding VAT) per year over the 2 year duration (£200,000 in total, including optional extension).
