SWR wish to replace the obsolete existing PIS with a new real-time PIS. A real-time PIS informs passengers of the state of their journey and provides real-time updates.

It is expected that the bidder will provide a concept system architecture as part of their bid which will show the PIS hardware including quantities, location and a system breakdown.

The PIS provides passengers with information relevant to their journey, visually via internal and external displays and audibly via speakers in the saloon. It enables passenger communication with train staff via Passenger Emergency Alarms (PEAs) and/or Call for Aids (CFAs), as well as providing communication between train staff and train-wide public announcements.
