two.1.4) Short description

Homes England are preparing an open market tender exercise for the Mobility Corridors works on the Brookleigh scheme in Burgess Hill West Sussex. This tender exercise is anticipated to commence April 2023.

The works, which involves alterations to the existing highways network comprising mainly of pavement widening within existing carriageways, will be carried out as a single Contract albeit in two Stages. Stage One will commence on site in June 2023 and complete in December 2023 and Stage Two will commence on site in January 2024 immediately after the completion of Stage One and complete in June 2024.

The works will be procured on a traditional basis.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The works, which involves alterations to the existing highways network comprising mainly pavement widening within existing carriageways, will be carried out as a single Contract albeit in two Stages. Stage One will commence on site in June 2023 and complete in December 2023 and Stage Two will commence on site in January 2024 immediately after the completion of Stage One and complete in June 2024.

The scope of works will include the following: -

• Mobility Corridors 1-4

• Freeks Farm Mobility Corridors, the nature of which is similar to the above Mobility Corridors 1-4.

• Vegetation cut back

• Widening into carriageways to achieve 2m/3m wide shared cycle/footway and in to verges including new retaining walls.

• Alterations to street furniture including the street lighting systems, tele communication boxes, post boxes, bus stops etc.

• Alterations to surface water drainage

• New road markings.

• New paving such as corduroy paving to denote end of footway and tactile paving

• New crossings such as zebra crossings, toucan crossings and uncontrolled crossings with raised table to be provided
