YSG Works Description

The York Station Gateway project is to transform the frontage of the station and make it more accessible and inclusive to the public and improve connectivity to the city centre. The project is being delivered as a joint venture between City of York Council and London North Eastern Railway - LNER and is to be delivered over a number of package stages. These stages are:-

• Package 1 - Identification and relocation of existing utilities

• Package 2 - CoYC Highway Works

• Package 3 - LNER Redevelopment of the station frontage

• Package 4 - CoYC construction of a new loop road around the Railway Institute building

• Package 5 - Construction of new long stay parking facilities

Package 3 to which this PIN & EOI relates are the changes to the Station Frontage and comprises of:

YSG Package 3 (Station Frontage) & Portico Enhancement

1. Construction of new Train Operator Accommodation inside the existing South Train Shed - Construction of a new modular building to accommodate TOC onboard personnel

2. Demolition of the existing Parcel Square building - Demolition of the existing TOC accommodation and retail areas

3. Construction of a new Short Stay car park - Relocation and construction of a new short stay car park

4. Construction of new taxi rank and public drop off - Relocation of taxis and public drop off to a new area South of the station portico

5. Construction of new retail units in North Train shed - Construction of modular retail units from Parcel Square into the North Trainshed and relocation of existing bike racks

6. Enclosure of existing Portico and construction of retail units - Glazing to the existing portico and construction of 2No Retail units

7. Hard landscaping to Tearoom Square - Hard landscaping to make Tearoom Square more pedestrian friendly whilst maintaining vehicle access for deliveries.
