The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of Weqas who operates as an independent organisation, hosted by Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board. Weqas are seeking to establish a contract for Dropper Bottles.

Weqas is one of the largest External Quality Assessment providers in the UK, with over 50 years of experience in delivering global Quality Assurance Programmes in Laboratory Medicine.

Weqas operates at Unit 6, Parc Ty Glas, Cardiff.

The majority of Weqas' EQA material is manufactured in-house, and the items sought below are necessary for the production of our Glucose & Ketone EQA material. These products are utilised in a semi automated dispensing system, therefore, there are specific requirements to enable them to be used with this system, as stated in each indivdual lot specification within the tender documents.

Item 1 – LDPE Dropper Bottle Cylinder Round Natural

Item 2 – Extended Control Dropper Tip LDPE Natural

Item 3 – Dropper Tip Cap (any colour)

Bidders should be aware that Weqas is seeking to evaluate the options available for provision of their Glucose & Ketone EQA programme and are looking at options for potentially outsourcing the entire process.

Bidders can submit tenders for one or more Lots, however, it should be noted that Weqas will award a single lot only.

This contract is for the supply of Dropper Bottles only. The bottle must be;

- Natural LDPE dropper bottle to be able to hold at least 0.5 ml serum

- Bottle diameter at it's largest part must be within the range of 13 mm to 14 mm due to the dispensing system in use currently and existing specimen packaging

- The neck diameter must be no smaller than 6mm (tolerance of 0.4mm around this) due to the dispensing system in use currently

- The bottle must be transparent to ensure ease of product testing after filling of bottle as there is a requirement to see the liquid within the bottle

NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board will allow a minimum 10 calendar day standstill period between notifying the award decision and awarding the contract.
