Contract value = Turnover of £415,000 per annum. Total contract potential value over 5 years £2,075,000

Kettlethorpe, Dane Royd and Mackie Hill schools are independent of each other, however they work closely together, and have combined to tender their catering services to achieve best value. The three schools intend to award their catering contract to a single organisation for an initial 3 year period with two 1 year optional extensions, however they reserve the right to award to separate companies to ensure the most economical advantageous contract is achieved for all three schools. Catering services are currently outsourced with the contractual period ending August 2022. The schools have a combined vision of good food that supports learning, and a successful provider that encourages uptake of both free and paid school meals.

Kettlethorpe High School is a growing community secondary school, with approx. 1619 pupils with capacity for 1660 pupils. Pupils age range is between 11 and 16 years old. There are 13.5% of the pupils eligible for free school meals. The school offers the pupils multiple catering outlets across the school including a traditional dining area, kiosk, retail dining area, and pop up street food offer. Crigglestone Dane Royd Junior and Infant School is a community primary school with 315 pupils, with a nursery for 52 pupils- some of which take school meals. The school is over- subscribed with 316 children plus 50 in nursery. The pupils age ranges from 3 to 11 years old. There are 15.8% of pupils eligible for free school meals. Crigglestone Mackie Hill Junior and Infant School is a community primary school with 207 pupils, with a capacity for 210 pupils. The pupils age ranges from 3 to 11 years old. There are 26.5% of pupils eligible for free school meals. The school has a traditional dining and service area, with the meals being cooked and delivered to the school from the kitchen located at Crigglestone Dane Royd school which is located approx. one mile away. The contracting authority will consider variant bids, evaluating them (so far as the variant or the evaluation of the variant is in the opinion of the contracting authority practicable) on the same basis as a conforming bid, but shall not be obliged to accept any such bid in preference to a conforming bid even if the variant bid scores more highly.
