Sandwell as the relevant authority for the Black Country Coroners Service provides services relating to the transportation of bodies on behalf of the Coroner.In addition, Sandwell MBC recognises the profound impact bereavement has on families and the importance of the funeral as part of a healthy grieving process.The tender is offered as five Lots as detailed below and suppliers may bid for all or individual Lots:Lot 1 – Coroners Transportation – Sandwell Lot 2 – Coroners Transportation – Dudley Lot 3 – Coroners Transportation – Walsall Lot 4 – Coroners Transportation - WolverhamptonLot 5 - Sandwell Funeral Services The contract period for all Lots will be from 1 May 2022 to 30 April 2026.Submission deadline is 18 February 2022 at 15:00 hours and must be made via https://in-tendhost.co.uk/sandwellmbc

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

Sandwell MBC, through its Registration Services, arrange and manage funerals of individuals who die with either no next of kin, or where family members of the deceased do not wish to or are unable to undertake funeral arrangements.This can apply to any person who dies in private or council owned property, nursing homes and hospitals in Sandwell. The funeral will be dignified, reflecting religious and cultural beliefs or any reasonable wishes of the deceased if these were known, ensuring the values are maintained of a caring public service. In addition, the Council through its Registration Services also makes funeral arrangements on behalf of families requiring a "low cost funeral". This Lot Includes Public Health Funerals and Sandwell’s "low cost" funeral service.

Sandwell MBC will incorporate a standstill period at the point information on the award of the contract is communicated to tenderers.
