Heathside School, Weybridge

Heathside School’s focus on delivering a rich curriculum, maintaining high standards and ensuring an excellent standard of teaching and learning has placed the school in the top 10% at post 16 and in the top 15% at GCSE in progress nationally. The school is a vibrant and caring learning community where students thrive. The last Ofsted inspection in March 2018 stated: Heathside is a harmonious school where everyone pulls together to do their best. Morale among pupils and teachers is high.

Heathside’s staff are extremely dedicated and have a wealth of subject knowledge and expertise which permeates the broad and balanced curriculum which they deliver. The curriculum also drives the development of cross curricular skills such as reading, communication skills, creativity and numeracy. A full programme of PSHE and RSE ensures pupils have the opportunity to explore and debate current topics and increase their knowledge on how to look after themselves, develop intercultural respect and understanding and keep themselves safe.

The school’s core values of Respect, Endeavour and Commitment help students to develop an empathy and understanding of others. It aims for all pupils, when they leave, to be responsible, caring individuals who approach the next stage of their lives with principled open minds, able to make a positive, successful contribution as global citizens in a rapidly changing world.

Heathside School, Walton-on-Thames

Elmbridge Borough Council’s Planning Committee granted planning for the new school, Heathside Walton-on-Thames on 3rd June 2020.

Since last summer, work has been continuing apace ready for the school to open in September 2022 with a PAN of 120, four forms of entry, rising to six forms of entry, a PAN of 180, in September 2023. For the academic year 2022-23 the school will open in temporary accommodation on the permanent site on Waterside Drive with work scheduled to prepare for this starting in May 2022.

A planning application for the temporary accommodation and a Section 73 planning application to address some of the hydrological survey findings and to amend the external landscaping, including an external dining area, was submitted in the spring 2021.

Subject to planning, BAM, the building contractor appointed to build the new school will start construction on site in late December 2021 and are scheduled to complete the build by May 2023. This will allow us to decant from the temporary accommodation into the permanent buildings by July 2023, ready for the start of the new academic year in September 2023.
