Description
This contract covers the provision of specialist medical physics services to support the Wiltshire Breast Screening Service. The service includes expert advice, testing, and quality assurance for mammographic imaging systems and associated diagnostic equipment, ensuring compliance with national standards and regulatory requirements.
Scope of Services to GWH:
Radiation Dose & Image Quality Optimisation: Advice and support from RPA2000-certified Medical Physics Experts in line with NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) guidance and IRMER 2017 regulations.
Performance Testing & Quality Assurance: Routine and acceptance testing of x-ray mammography systems, ultrasound scanners, specimen cabinets, and reporting monitors. Includes testing after major breakdowns or component replacements.
Annual Dose Surveys: Calculation and reporting of mean glandular dose across mammography units, including data collection and analysis.
Commissioning & Equipment Advice: Support for equipment selection, procurement, and commissioning to ensure clinical safety and performance.
Training & Liaison: Coordination with radiographers and the Screening Quality Assurance Service, including staff training and participation in professional development activities.
