Description

West Berkshire Council is tendering a contract for the West Berkshire Highways Term Maintenance Contract 2026 - 2036 (7+3). The contract will deliver the statutory functions required of the Council as Highway Authority and ensures the Council's roads and assets are maintained to a good standard. The highways contract is key for the Council to be seen by its residents, stakeholders and visitors across the region in being responsible and proactive, dealing with all matters affecting transport and maintenance.

West Berkshire spends over £15m on highway maintenance activities, including reactive and planned services, winter maintenance and broader estates asset management each year. A significant Capital programme is also associated with the Highways Contract and delivers highway improvement schemes, safety schemes and active travel programmes annually. The Council has outlined its scope of services in a series of Specification and accompanying documents.

The current contract relates to works/services/goods with a cumulative value of £150,000,000. This figure may be increased to reflect Local Government Reorganisation and could be increased to as much as £300,000,000. However, the outcome of the proposal is unknown and therefore there is no guarantee that the contract will increase in value.
