Direct award justification

Single supplier - technical reasons

The Defence General Munitions (DGM) Delivery Team, part of the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), has a requirement for ammunition delivery in 2026 & 2027 and intends to award a two-year contract extension to Swiss P for the repeat procurement of the MODs portfolio of Small Arms & Grenades. The estimated total value of the proposed award is £13.954 inclusive of VAT.

Direct award is justified in accordance with the Procurement Act 2023 Paragraph 6 of Schedule 5 for Technical Reasons.

This is on the basis that Swiss P are the Original Equipment Manufacturers of the in-service natures which makes up the current stockpile and have satisfied MoD Standards for Safety and Suitability for Service. Swiss P, have the technical knowledge and documentary evidence which is necessary for upholding the quality and safety standards required by the MoD to meet and therefore fulfil this requirement. Obtaining goods from another supplier could result in disproportional effort to evidence compatibility with existing weapon systems and create significant interoperability issues for a diverse range of weapon systems which this requirement supports.
