two.2.4) Description of the procurement

This contract relates to the provision of insourced radiography services to support the delivery of MRI scanning across mobile MRI units

owned by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB). CAVUHB is one of the largest NHS organisations in Europe, employing

approximately 17,000 staff and providing healthcare services to over 472,000 residents across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, in

addition to delivering specialist services to the wider South and Mid Wales population.

The contract operates under the Clinical Diagnostics and Therapeutics Clinical Board, which comprises seven directorates responsible for

delivering a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures at local, national, and UK-wide levels. These services form the foundation

of most clinical activity across the Health Board.

CAVUHB owns and operates two mobile MRI trailers that can be deployed across various Health Boards in Wales. Currently, one trailer is

in use at Morriston Hospital and the other at University Hospital Llandough as part of an ongoing agreement. The service, delivered

through the Radiology Department, continues to support efforts to reduce patient waiting times.

Under this contract, the successful supplier provides qualified radiographers to perform MRI scans on patients using the mobile units,

ensuring continuity of service and supporting diagnostic capacity across participating Health Boards in Wales.
