- To determine the role, if any, of pesticides or other chemical substances which caused or contributed to the death of the animal

- To establish the quantity of pesticide or other substance, and where possible its formulation and any information which can be uncovered as to its source.

- To determine where possible the origin of the pesticide or other chemical substance.

- To provide interpretation of all results and conclusion as to whether the poisoning resulted from approved use, misuse, or abuse of pesticides.

- To provide expert witness statements when required.

- To support the Welsh Government with training and education both for Welsh Government staff and the wider public.
