two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The Authority is seeking Contractor(s) for the provision of Mass Spectrometers and Chromatography Equipment for the Further and Higher Education sector in the UK. The main products and services will include, but not limited to:

1. Mass Spectrometers: This would include, but not be limited to:

- Stand-alone mass spectrometers (MS).

- Inductively coupled mass spectrometers (ICP-MS); capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometers (CE-MS) and,

- Hybrid systems - Liquid Chromatography (LC-MS). For example, Matrix assisted laser desorption/ionisation (MALDI), ION trap and other Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry equipment.

Hybrid systems - Gas Chromatography (GC-MS)

- Remaining interfaces which are neither solely gas chromatography nor liquid chromatography.

Forthcoming technology and modular/combined systems are also to be considered. This provides area/scope for developing innovation or products falling under the Mass Spectrometry category which utilise technology that crosses two or more categories’ boundaries imposed and/or any systems/interfaces/detectors made from a combination not mentioned in any of the other categories.

2. Gas Chromatographs: This would include, but not be limited to:

- Gas Chromatographs with the following detectors: For example, Flame ionisation, Electron capture detector and other detectors which are not specifically Mass Spectrometers.

Forthcoming technology and modular/combined systems are also to be considered. This provides area/scope for developing innovation or products falling under the Gas Chromatography category which utilise technology that crosses two or more categories’ boundaries imposed and/or any systems/interfaces/detectors made from a combination not mentioned in any of the other categories.

3. Liquid Chromatography Systems: This would include, but not be limited to:

- Liquid Chromatographs with the following detectors: For example, Ultraviolet, Fluorescence and other detectors which are not specifically Mass Spectrometers.

Forthcoming technology and modular/combined systems are also to be considered. This provides area/scope for developing innovation or products falling under the Liquid Chromatography category which utilise technology that crosses two or more categories’ boundaries imposed and/or any systems/interfaces/detectors made from a combination not mentioned in any of the other categories.

4. Gas Generators: This would include, but not be limited to:

- Gas generators and systems used in Mass Spectrometry that produce specific gases on-site which ensure a continuous, reliable, and safe supply of gas with high purity levels.

Forthcoming technology and modular/combined systems are also to be considered. This provides area/scope for developing innovation or products falling under the Gas Generator category which utilise technology that crosses two or more categories’ boundaries imposed and/or any systems/interfaces/detectors made from a combination not mentioned in any of the other categories.

5. Related Consumables and Accessories

- Any relating consumables or accessories which are specific to any of the equipment featured in any of the other lots in this Framework Agreement.
