Scope
Description
Safety is one of National Highway's imperatives, and as the first and prime imperative, our vision is for our people within National Highways and for everyone who works with us and everyone who travels on our network to get home safe and well.
This pipeline notice is to notify the market, that National Highways intends to procure (including the national roll-out) of an approved Incursion Warning Radar System that is fitted to a Traffic Officer Vehicle. This device when linked to compliant wearable user device will have the ability to alert a Traffic Officer (or road-worker) when a vehicle is in close proximity and if not averted, could cause serious injury or a fatality.
National Highways currently has a fleet of approximately 400 Traffic Officer Vehicles, and each will require a radar device (to be fitted and calibrated), that is linked to a wearable user device (as worn by a Traffic Officer).
The scope of this requirement is likely to include (but is subject to change)
• Production and supply of compatible devices
• Fitment to a vehicle (or this may self-delivered by National Highways)
• Calibration of equipment
• Software servicing & updates
This Incursion Warning Radar System is intended to be procured during the period April 2026 - September 2026 and National Highways wishes to hear from suppliers in the market that can provide a comparable device.
This pre-market notice and questionnaire will be open for a period of 30 days from publication and will include a specification of requirements that the incursion alarm warning device needs to meet (note that this does not include concepts or prototype devices), only final products that are available and can meet the requirements that has devices that have been suitably tested in a live environment will be considered.
