seven.2) Information about modifications

seven.2.1) Description of the modifications

Nature and extent of the modifications (with indication of possible earlier changes to the contract):

Given the ongoing clinical need for the products included in this contract and the consistent demand across Wales, a 12-month extension is considered necessary to ensure continuity of supply while a full competitive tender process is undertaken. Based on usage over the past 12 months, the projected expenditure for the extension period is 53,518.75 GBP (excluding VAT).

seven.2.2) Reasons for modification

Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee.

Description of the circumstances which rendered the modification necessary and explanation of the unforeseen nature of these circumstances:

Due to staff resourcing limitations within the All Wales Procurement Team, there is insufficient capacity to complete a full renewal exercise before the expiry date. It is therefore proposed that a 12-month extension (under Regulation 72) be awarded, enabling a competitive tender process to be undertaken during the extension period.

seven.2.3) Increase in price

Updated total contract value before the modifications (taking into account possible earlier contract modifications, price adaptions and average inflation)

Value excluding VAT: £53,518.75
