NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board have made an Urgent Direct Award of Contract for a discharge vehicle at Sunderland Royal Hospital for a maximum contract period of 12 months in order to ensure continuity of service provision remains in place whilst also ensuring that a competitive procurement is completed by 29 August 2026. The circumstances are as follows:

Extreme urgency and due to circumstances beyond the ICB's control
