Scope
Description
Background.
The Mining Remediation Authority (MRA) has identified the need to construct a mine water monitoring borehole at Brodsworth, Yorkshire. Brodsworth Main Colliery lies within the Barnlsey-Manvers-Grimethorpe sub-block of the South Yorkshire Coalfield, the borehole is to intersect mine workings understood to be flooded with the intention of monitoring mine water levels and chemistry. The borehole is to be drilled into a roadway in the Barnsley Seam and expected to meet the key requirements set out below.
This initiative aims to enhance the understanding of mine water behaviour in the region and to inform future management strategies.
