Scope
Description
Safety is one of National Highway's imperatives, and as the first and prime imperative, our vision is for our people within National Highways and for everyone who works with us and everyone who travels on our network to get home safe and well.
This pipeline notice is to notify the market, that National Highways intends to procure (including the national roll-out) of an approved Incursion Warning Radar System that is fitted to a Traffic Officer Vehicle. This device when linked to compliant wearable user device will have the ability to alert a Traffic Officer (or road-worker) when a vehicle is in close proximity and if not averted, could cause serious injury or a fatality.
National Highways currently has a fleet of approximately 400 Traffic Officer Vehicles, and each will require a radar device (to be fitted and calibrated), that is linked to a wearable user device (as worn by a Traffic Officer).
The scope of this requirement is likely to include (but is subject to change)
• Production and supply of compatible devices
• Fitment to a vehicle (or this may self-delivered by National Highways)
• Calibration of equipment
• Software servicing & updates
This Incursion Warning Radar System is intended to be procured during the period April 2026 - September 2026 and National Highways however will conduct further pre-market engagement and intends to issue a UK2 Pre-Market Engagement notice in due course.
