Description
This market exercise was for the provision of a solution for antimicrobial hand shield with contact kill and residual activity. The solution is to include:
* antimicrobial
* non-leaching technology
* broad spectrum protection
* residual efficacy
* invisible coating
* contact kill mechanism
* designed for use by healthcare workers, patients, and visitors
NHS Supply Chain have a mandate from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to drive the availability of innovative products to the NHS. NHS Supply Chain believe the product sourced by this contract (which is not covered by any of its current Framework Agreements) falls within this remit as a "disruptive" innovative product and has been identified to provide enhanced staff & patient benefits specifically:
Patient - Reduction in health care associated infections (HCAI), improving patient experiences, providing decreased waiting lists and improved patient outcomes.
Staff - Enhances staff experience by enabling improved patient care, reducing sickness to healthcare workers (HCW), and supports skin integrity.
NHS Supply Chain intends to enter into a Framework Agreement (FA) with an identified supplier of these products/services (alongside the existing framework Hand Hygiene and Associated Product and Services 2023) should there be only 1 available supplier using procedure Direct Award as defined in the Procurement Act 2023.
The Term of this Framework Agreement is anticipated to be 18 months. As part of its strategy, NHS Supply Chain anticipates engaging with suppliers of these products/services with a view to ultimately include this solution within the scope of the Framework for Hand Hygiene and Associated Product and Services which is due to renew on 12th June 2027.
Electronic ordering will be used and electronic invoicing will be accepted and electronic payment will be used.
For the avoidance of doubt and notwithstanding the estimate indicated, NHSSC does not guarantee any level of purchase through the framework and advises applicants that the framework shall be established on a non-exclusive basis.
