two.2.4) Description of the procurement

The lead commissioner for this service is BLMK ICB. Acquired brain injury (ABI) rehabilitation services are provided in Bedford and Central Bedfordshire local authority areas. ABI rehabilitation services aids the long term rehabilitation of patients who have suffered brain injury. The service provides continued rehabilitation for patients following discharge from the ABI, Neuro-Rehab Teams or other health professional services, allowing patients to achieve their potential. This could be a return to employment, accessing work, education, or volunteering, accessing social support or transferring to day care more appropriate to the patients need. The services available as part of rehabilitation can include Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Cognitive Group or individual Sessions, Computing, Art, Digital photography, Counselling Psychology, Art Psychotherapy, Cooking, The Community Brain Injury Advice team (CBIA) and organised outings.

The ICB are intending to award a contract to an existing provider following direct award process C and the approximate lifetime value of the contract is £371,662. The services are intended to be provided for a period of 2 years from 01st April 2026 to 31st March 2028.
