Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee.
Description of the circumstances which rendered the modification necessary and explanation of the unforeseen nature of these circumstances:
The Rathlin Ferry service has been operated by Dunaverty Ltd. via a Direct Award Contract (DAC) which commenced on 11 January 2023 for a minimum period of two years with an option to extend for a further 12 months the DAC was therefore due to end on 10 January 2026. However, with ongoing issues the DAC is to be extended for a minimum period of 12 months (with the option of an additional 6 months if required). To allow for this the value also needs to be modified by 1700000 from the original 3500000 to 5250000
