Reason for not signing contract
MSEFT was created through the merger of three NHS Acute Trusts of Broomfield, Basildon and Southend in April 2020. There are approximately 2,100 beds across the general and specialist services offered. The specialisms of Cardiothoracic services at Basildon, plastic surgery and burns at Broomfield and Oncology services at Southend are fundamental to the services offered.
MSEFT has a deficit of £118m in financial year FY25/26. To mitigate the deficit there is a cost optimisation program across all departments within the Trust. MSEFT's transport program have been reviewing all services within their scope with the aim of increasing the level of grip and control. This has led to a significant reduction in usage in Taxis from the period of August 2024 to August 2025. Therefore, the Trust initial tender activity sighted in the documentation published 20th May 2024 there is 40% material decrease. Due to this the Trust has decided to abandon this tender exercise and re-fresh the activity per site and future proof the potential decline that the Trust seeks as part of its ongoing strategy.
We appreciate the time and resource utilised in responding to the tender, and we hope we your continued support as we move through the review and prepare the updated opportunity.
