Description
The Council's Library service is currently exploring the market to identify potential solutions for the supply, maintenance, and possible phased replacement of self-service machines across our public library network.
The current estate which is a total of 54 machines, includes a number of ageing self-service units, 32 of which are now nearing end-of-life. These units are increasingly expensive to maintain, and crucially, they are not capable of upgrading to Windows 11. With Microsoft ending support for Windows 10 in October 2025, these machines will soon fall out of compliance with essential IT security and data handling standards.
Some existing maintenance arrangements are in place, but these are limited in scope and will not provide long-term sustainability.
In addition, the Library service is expanding or existing Library sites who do not have such machines, could benefit from them.
As such, we are seeking solutions and market insights that can help the Council procurement a solution which delivers ongoing functionality, value for money, and continued support for secure, autonomous service in our libraries.
