Scope

Description

Fareham Borough Council is seeking external contractors to design and construct the following public realm improvements to West Street:

New play zone - Area 1 (Lot 1)

Replacement bandstand (subject to Council approval) - Lot 2 (Area B)

Public realm improvements - Lot 3 comprising:

- Seating and planting incorporating existing sculpture (Area C)

- Seating area in shopping centre (subject to Council approval) (Area D)

- Seating at Harper Way (Area E)

Lot 1. 1. New play zone - Area 1 (Lot 1)

Description

Area 1 - Replacement play zone

TThe play area was built in 2000, with the current equipment was installed in 2011. Although the play area is well-used, the equipment is dated and limited. The colours are overly muted, and it does not appear as an attractive destination for play.

A replacement play zone is required for this area which is inclusive and accessible, provides interest and challenge for all, and helps to develop character in the town centre.

Lot 2. • Replacement bandstand (subject to Council approval) - Lot 2 (Area B)

Description

(Subject to Council Approval)

The existing bandstand is a key feature within West Street and is regularly the focal space for community events. However, the bandstand looks dated, and the structural timbers supporting the canopy significantly restricts the space beneath, limiting opportunities for performance and events.

• Replacement bandstand.

• Incorporation of additional new seating (in conjunction with Lot 3).

• Installation of bandstand and seating (responsibility of selected contractor or FBC)
