The facility should meet the needs of local people and accommodate a range of users, including scooters, skateboards, BMX bikes, and skates, across various ages and abilities.
The successful contractor will be selected based on a combination of factors, including demonstrated experience on similar projects, financial stability, health and safety procedures, relevant skills, a proven track record of working with councils and community groups, and the capability to deliver a fully funded project within budget.
Applicants must demonstrate value for money, aim to use local suppliers where possible, and provide added value through community engagement, minimal disruption during construction, and a focus on durability, quality, and design excellence. The skatepark must meet both the aspirations of the community and the requirements of the local authority.
Initial ideas and concept designs have already been developed by members of the community. However, further consultation is expected as part of the design phase to refine and agree on a final plan for both the skatepark and the surrounding area.
