Scope
Description
The service will reduce inappropriate hospital admissions, attendances at Accident and Emergency Departments and readmission to hospital.
The service will be an alternative to hospital admission for people who are experiencing episodes of mental distress that evidently require some form of intervention but would not necessitate an admission to secondary care mental health services by providing mental health crisis bed accommodation.
The service will be a non-clinically led model supporting those in crisis /mental distress in a positive non-judgemental supportive manner as to improve the quality of life and support individuals to return home as soon as possible. There will times when individuals may seek day support rather than requiring an overnight stay. Individuals should in this instance be supported to access services that will provide the appropriate support and guidance.
