two.1.4) Short description

NHS Devon ICB will be undertaking a procurement exercise in relation to delivery of Access to Urgent and Specialist Medicines. Further details provided below. This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) intended approach notice to advise this procurement will be undertaken using the most suitable provider process.

Evaluation work will commence 20th January 2025.

The provider is required to be Community Pharmacy within the county of Devon.

two.2.4) Description of the procurement

NHS Devon are looking for suitable community pharmacies in Devon to participate in the service who meet the following criteria:

• Be able to suitability store agreed medicines stock list

• Willingness to engage with out of hours and community partners

• Willingness to engage with local primary care partners

This service aims to improve access to urgent and emergency medicines, some of which may not be standard stock for community pharmacies, during normal and Bank Holiday working hours in the community setting, not affecting your standard opening hours.

In addition, the service will also support the dispensing for appropriate anticipatory prescribing for palliative care e.g the use of Just in Case (JIC) Bags, and thus contribute to supporting the individual to remain at home, although the specification is expected to be utilised less frequency in the instances due to effective treatment planning.

This service, to a lesser extent, will also support patients to access antivirals for seasonal influenza, during the CMO declared influenza season.

This is a Provider Selection Regime (PSR) intended approach notice. The awarding of this contract is subject to the Health Care Services (Provider Selection Regime) Regulations 2023. For the avoidance of doubt, the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 do not apply to this award.

The award will be reviewed and confirmed via the NHS Devon ICB PSR Steering Group.

The intention is to award a contract using the most suitable provider process.
